Hutchison Whampoa steigert Gewinn im Rahmen der Erwartung

Das Hongkonger Konglomerat Hutchison Whampoa, welches dem Tycoon Li Ka-shing gehört, teilte heute sein Halbjahresergebnis mit, welches im Rahmen der Erwartungen lag.
So wurde der Nettogewinn um 52 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahreszeitraum auf 28,80 Mrd. HKD gesteigert. Die Schätzungen lagen zwischen 27,30 und 34,20 Mrd. HKD. Der Umsatz stieg um 14 Prozent auf 141,50 Mrd. HKD.
Die Aktie kann bis zur Mittagspause um 2,9 Prozent auf 79,25 HKD zulegen.

HK's Hutchison Whampoa 2007 net surges 53 pct on revaluation, asset sale gains


Hutchison Whampoa Ltd said its net profit for 2007 rose 53 pct to 30.6 bln hkd from 20.03 bln a year earlier, supported by revaluation gains on investment properties and sales of telecom assets.

The ports-to-telecom conglomerate's earnings were at the upper end of market forecasts in the 29.32 bln to 31.29 bln hkd range.

Total revenue rose 15 pct to 308.78 bln hkd from 267.66 bln a year earlier, while earnings per share surged 53 pct to 7.18 hkd, up from 4.7.

Revenue of its third generation (3G) mobile phone business rose 18 pct to 59.91 bln hkd.

Its 3G global customer base currently totals more than 17.6 mln.

Hutchison said that thanks to progress in the second half, the 3G business achieved positive earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) for the first time.

The 3G segment's EBITDA was 1.19 bln hkd after stripping out customer acquisition costs of 2.8 bln hkd.

Hutchison's board recommended a final dividend of 1.22 hkd, uchanged from the previous year's level.

The group said its earnings were boosted by a 35.82 bln hkd share of profit from unit Hutchison Telecommunications's sale of its mobile phone business in India.

It also booked a 1.12 bln hkd gain from the sale of 3 UK's fixed line business.

Gains from revaluation of investment properties amounted to 1.99 bln hkd. (1 usd = 7.8 hkd)
