ESS Technology To Demonstrate Innovative New Consumer Digital Entertainment Products at 2004 Consumer Electronics Show Thursday January 8, 7:32 am ET
FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ESS Technology (Nasdaq: ESST - News) a leading provider of silicon solutions for digital video, digital imaging and digital audio consumer electronics, today unveiled some of its new digital entertainment products for 2004 at CES in Las Vegas. Highlights of the new product areas for which ESS chips will be demonstrated include:
Vantage II: ESS's next generation recordable DVD platform integrates ESS's flagship Vibratto(TM)S DVD decoder and its Vantage MPEG-2 encoder into a single device enabling cost-effective DVD recorders for this fast-growing market.
1.3 MegaPixel CMOS Image Sensor: ESS's third generation camera phone sensor with proprietary noise reduction circuitry provides improved low-light sensitivity and small lens sizes for embedded applications in mobile handsets.
Networked DVD Player: A DVD player that plays streamed digital multimedia content, including MPEG4 video, from a home media server via wire or wireless LAN.
Digital Still Camera: A new, low-cost 3.0 Mega-pixel CMOS digital still camera reference design that incorporates ESS's digital processor chip, the Raptor II.
Solid-state Camcorder: A new, low cost solid-state camcorder reference design that incorporates ESS's MPEG-4 ASP encoder and SD card memory interface with full video frame rate, and superior video quality and compression ratio.
Digital Amplifier: ESS's new digital amplifier chip provides unique 8 channel digital audio amplification using ESS's proprietary HyperStream(TM) technology that achieves extremely high quality sound with high efficiency at a low cost. The chip can be paired with ESS's Vibratto II DVD processor to provide a complete low cost digital DVD receiver solution.
