- BusinessWire

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct 8, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc.)(Nasdaq: ARTG), a leading provider of innovative software applications for commerce and customer self-service, today announced the creation of the ATG Certified Commerce Developer Exam, a new test that measures the proficiency of application developers using the ATG Commerce product.

ATG recently completed a beta program of the exam that involved six of its partners, including McFadyen Consulting and Professional Access, the two initial members of the ATG Accredited Alliance Partner program launched in June. This latest exam, which is a part of that program, seeks to ensure that developers can properly apply their skills when:

--   Designing consumer and business-to-business commerce solutions
based on an understanding of ATG Commerce components and an
assessment of the business needs for an application.

--   Developing consumer and business-to-business commerce
solutions built upon the ATG Commerce framework.

"The robustness and complexity of the commerce and self-service applications being developed on ATG software is always increasing," said Al Stoddard, vice president of channels and alliances, ATG. "Though ATG Commerce itself remains an intuitive and easy-to-use application, this test will serve as a benchmark for customers to help ensure that their developers are able to maximize their use of the vast functionality provided by ATG Commerce out of the box."

Joining Professional Access and McFadyen in the beta program were Analysts International, SBI and Co., Blast Radius and Conexus. As a suggested pre-requisite for taking the exam, partners are also encouraged to take the ATG Certified Relationship Management Developer Exam.

"The demands of time-to-market and performance place a great deal of pressure on our consultants, which requires them to be as proficient as possible in the ATG product stack with which we work," said Ganesh Shankar, CTO of Professional Access. "Benchmarks such as this test for ATG Commerce can not only serve to deepen the knowledge of our consultants and reinforce the strength of our partnership with ATG, but also drive our sales. Professional Access is committed to a attaining the highest knowledge level possible in regard to ATG offerings and we will continue to invest in such certification and training programs."
