The firm earlier this week halted a late-stage trial of a lung-cancer drug, saying there is little or no prospect of demonstrating a survival benefit. That "came as a devastating blow to all stakeholders," ING said. The broker also cut its target price by 85%

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Cancer drug specialist Antisoma's chief operating officer, Dr Ursula Ney, has paid the price for the failure of its most promising drug and has left after a restructuring of the board.

The company said her departure is part of a wider restructuring of the company that is ongoing following the announcement on Monday that the ATTRACT-1 trial of its ASA404 lung cancer drug had been halted.

Following the restructuring, the board expects that the company's cash resources will be sufficient to fund operations until the end of 2011.

This will be well beyond the expected timing of key clinical data on the company's late-stage products, AS1413 (in phase III) and AS1411 (in phase IIb), the statement added
