Finland Economy Expands In Q3
HELSINKI (dpa-AFX) - Finland's economy grew in the third quarter, after contracting in the previous three months, preliminary data from Statistics Finland showed Friday.
Gross domestic product grew a seasonally adjusted 0.4 percent from the second quarter, which was slightly slower than the 0.5 percent expansion estimated earlier.
A stagnation reported initially for the second quarter was revised to a 0.1 percent decline. The economy grew 0.8 percent in the first three months of the year.
Exports declined 3.4 percent from the previous quarter and imports fell 3.3 percent. Private consumption grew 0.5 percent, while gross fixed capital formation, or investments, dropped 0.3 percent.
On a year-on-year basis, the GDP grew a working day adjusted 1.6 percent year-on-year, which was faster than the 1.4 percent expansion estimated earlier.
Annual growth for the second quarter was revised up to 0.9 percent from 0.4 percent. In the first quarter, the economy expanded 2.1 percent from a year ago.
